Distance Learners: Academic Libraries

This guide outlines library services and resources for distance learners at the Lyman Beecher Brooks Library

Did You Know?

State funded universities are open to the public, as are many private institutions.

If you are a distance education student but live near another university, you may be granted access to library resources. Inquire with each specific institution about their policies regarding local patron services.

Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA)

VIVA levels the academic playing field: Through VIVA, students and faculty at institutions of higher education in the Commonwealth have access to digital and print journals, books, reference sources, and databases that are essential for educational success and research enterprise. Whether you are at a community college or a large public university, a small liberal arts college or an elite private university, the same VIVA is available to you.
