Online-Only Academic Programs and Virtual Presenting Guidelines

Poster/Presentation Video Guide

All participants must submit a pre-recorded oral presentation/poster presentation in advance. Please carefully review the following guidelines and specifications before recording your presentation. At a minimum a student will need internet access, presentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.), and a smart device with recording capabilities (e.g. laptop with a webcam, smartphone, tablet, and so on). 

The deadline for all video poster/presentation submissions is ­­­­­4/1/23 by 11:00PM!

Qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods

Innovation

Business plans/pitches, public policy, service-learning, outreach, practice and programming

Exhibition

Virtual Poster/Presentation Guide

Students in online only programs that choose to present virtual will do so synchronously on April 20, 2023. To do so a student will need internet access, presentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.), and a smart device with recording capabilities (e.g. laptop with a webcam, microphone, tablet, and so on). The conference will be using Zoom to connect participants with judges and audience members.   

The deadline for proposal submissions is ­­­­­4/1/23 by 11:59 PM!

INSTRUCTIONS TO PREPARE FOR VIRTUAL PARTICIPATION

If creating an virtual oral presentation it should:

  • Be 4-5-minutes in length
  • Use simple (Arial, Calibri) and large (30+) fonts on any slide presentation
  • Avoid using hi-res images
  • Have NO embedded videos

PowerPoint for Posters

Prepare a 3-5 minute introduction to your poster and then open the floor to questions.

  2. Poster layout assistance is available February 28 – March 23, 2023, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays from 12pm – 3:00pm by appointment ONLY. Call 757-823-8015 to schedule your appointment. In person assistance is available in MCAR, School of Graduate Studies and Research, Suite 602 –undergraduate and graduate students welcomed!
