Distance Learners: Locating Books

This guide outlines library services and resources for distance learners at the Lyman Beecher Brooks Library

Searching for Books

Books in the library are organized according to the Library of Congress system, which means books are organized according to subject and labeled with a call number.  Call numbers are arranged alphabetically then numerically (see the example below for more information).

To find books or other materials held physically within the library, please search the catalog for the item's availability and shelf location.

Books Delivered Free (ILL)

If the book/item you need is not own by our library, we will find it for you.

1.  Use ILLiad - our interlibrary loan system.  Login or Register (first time users).
2.  Select First Time User.  Provide requested information.
3.  You will receive an e-mail indicating when the item(s) will be available.  Follow the prompts and retrieve the item(s) within 10 days.
4.  That's it!
